Do you start with wireframes or comps?
I’m currently debating on what is the best way to start the ux process, do you wireframe first and then design or do you just sketch it out and move to comps?

I usually start with wireframes, but if i dont have enough time, i made a mix between wires and comps.
I start with wireframes since I discovered Balsamiq (like 2-3 years ago)… They give a pretty good idea and the final prototype is so good that’s ready to show to your client…
I usually go from sketching directly to code.
I use the sketches to get my ideas out of my head, then I just iterate in HTML/CSS/JS to get a working prototype. Then I port the prototype to development when ready.
@demarzi, do you sketch using paper or an app?
Pencil/Pen and paper all the way!
I find I can’t get the brainstorming speeds I need to ‘think out loud’ on any sketching app. It might help if I had a wacom tablet, I dunno.
Something still to be said about classic technologies! :)
@demarzi, I agree with the pen and paper too, brainstorm speed requires a pencil. At some point you need to go digital though, I don’t like sending client a scanned paper =)
Pencil and papers are for me, a quick sketch on balsamiq, fireworks, etc, is for the client.
Lucky for me, I rarely do client work, so the need to present my ‘wireframes’ is almost never necessary. I can totally understand the need to digitize/clean them up; a scanned paper would probably not be appropriate in most cases.
I guess I’m kinda lucky!
